1.1 Replacing a Senator
1. McCain was a senator from Arizona.
2. The governor of Arizona, Doug Ducey is in charge of finding a replacement for him.
3. The replacement will serve at least until the next general election in 2020.
4. The replacement for McCain must be republican too.
5. His seat is not on the ballot because he died after May 30th an candidates have to file to run for office by that date.
6. In Arizona a democrat is leading in the polls. If his seat was up for election, there would be a strong possibility of a democrat taking his senate seat.
7. The republicans have a 51-49 majority in the senate.
8. McCain was an unreliable vote in the senate because his beliefs didn't always line up with the GOP's agenda. Now, a traditional republican is able to fill the seat with someone who is more aligned with the GOP.
